Shahi Halal Meat Shop

Our shop is at 332 in Hari Nagar. It’s a pretty quiet spot compared to the main markets, which is nice for us. I’ve been working here for years. We do halal meat, and that’s what we’re known for around this block. It’s not a big corporate place, just a small room with a heavy door. I spend most of my time in the back where it’s cooler. In the mornings, the delivery truck comes and we have to move fast to get everything inside before the sun gets too high. Some of the older ladies from the neighborhood come by early because they like the specific cuts for their cooking. I know their names and how they like their meat chopped. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of wear over the decades. We don't have a website or anything, just the phone and people walking in. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it's slow and watch the cars go by. Hari Nagar has changed a lot since I was a kid, but this corner stays mostly the same. The light inside is a bit dim because we only have a couple of bulbs. It’s just how it is. We keep our knives sharp and the scale is always on the counter. It's a living. We don't try to make it look like something it isn't. If you need mutton, you come here.
