Basai Darapur is an interesting place because it still has that old village feel even though it’s right in the middle of West Delhi. Our office for Rural Platter India is at House No. 477/A, on the first floor in Block WZ. It’s a busy area with narrow streets and a lot of activity. We focus on getting food products that have a more traditional, rural touch to them. Most of our time is spent talking to people from outside the city and arranging how to get their products into our warehouse. It’s a lot of logistical work that people don’t usually see. The first floor can get pretty warm in the summer, but we keep the fans going and stay focused on the lists in front of us. We aren't trying to be some high-end gourmet shop; we just like the kind of food that tastes like it came from a farm. Every day brings a new challenge, whether it’s a delayed shipment or a typo on a label. We just deal with it as it comes. It’s a small operation, and we all wear many hats. One minute I’m on the computer and the next I’m helping carry a heavy bag of grain. It keeps us on our toes. We’re just a bunch of people who appreciate good, simple food.
