Pahuja Sweet Corner

Pahuja Sweet Corner is over in Janakpuri 1, specifically in the Mini Market at B 1. It’s a small corner, just like the name says. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles here. The shop is a bit cramped once you get three or four people inside. Most of the day is spent standing by the counter and looking out at the market. B 1 is a good spot because we see everyone going about their business. We get our supplies delivered early and have to stack them carefully so we don't trip over them. The display glass has some scratches on it from years of use. We keep the scales right in the center. It’s a lot of simple tasks, like folding boxes and filling up jars. The neighborhood is mostly families, so we know who is coming by most of the time. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use the handheld fans. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop. We’ve got a small sink in the back for washing up. It’s just a normal local shop. We don’t try to be anything else. We open the shutters in the morning and stay until the market gets quiet at night. It’s just us here at the corner in Janakpuri. No big plans, just keeping the shop open and the trays full.
