Mcd is located at F-98 in Punjabi Basti, which is right in the heart of Baljeet Nagar here in New Delhi. This area is always buzzing with people and the streets are quite narrow, so getting here can be a bit of a challenge if you are driving a big car. We operate out of a small space that we’ve made comfortable over the years. It’s mostly just us sitting around a couple of old wooden tables with our ledgers and some basic computers. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't really found the time to get to it. There is always someone coming in with a question about some local issue or a form they need help with. We don’t really do anything fancy here. Our morning starts with opening the shutters and sweeping out the dust that blows in from the street. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long, from the motorcycles zooming past to the neighbors chatting. We know most of the people who live around here by their first names. It’s a busy life but it feels real. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who have been working together for ages. We manage things as they come and try not to let the paperwork pile up too high because that just creates more work later.
