Juneja Plastic Industries

Mayapuri is always loud. We are over at F-65 in Phase II, and if you have ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how the industrial area stays busy from early morning. Here at Juneja Plastic Industries, the day starts with the sound of the gates opening. The air usually smells a bit like warm plastic and machine oil. We spend most of the time looking at the molds and making sure the cooling water is running right. It gets really hot in the summer, especially near the injection machines, so we keep the big fans going all day. There are stacks of raw pellets in the corner that we have to move around to make space. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck in the narrow lanes outside, which is a headache for everyone. We have been in this spot for a while now. The floors are a bit scuffed from moving heavy crates back and forth. You can hear the hum of the electricity and the clatter of parts falling into the bins. It’s just how it is here. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don’t talk much while we work; we just get on with it. By the time evening rolls around, the tea stall nearby is where we usually end up for a quick break before closing up the shutters at F-65. It is just regular work, nothing fancy about it.
