Chandna Sweets

If you know Janakpuri then you know how Pankha Road gets during the rush hour. We are right there in Mohan Nagar at RZ-A/3. It’s a busy spot and we are usually on our feet from six in the morning getting the first batches of sweets ready. The kitchen is always warm and there is usually a lot of steam and noise coming from the back. We make what we can and hope it sells out by the evening so we can start fresh again tomorrow. Some days the milk delivery is late and that throws everything off, but we manage somehow. We have been in this spot for years and the shop has seen better days, but the floor is clean and the display cases are always full. People come in for a quick snack or to take a box home for a family thing. We don't have a lot of seating, so most folks just stand outside and eat or take their bags and go. It’s a simple setup. We don't use any fancy machinery, just the same heavy pots and long spoons we've always used. The neighborhood kids come by after school and it gets pretty loud for an hour or so. We just keep our heads down and keep working. It’s a lot of frying and stirring, and our hands are usually a bit sticky by the end of the shift. That is just life at Chandna Sweets on Pankha Road. We keep doing it because it's what we know.
