Bikaner Sweets Centre

Living and working in Greater Kailash I means dealing with a lot of different people every day and our shop at L16 is right in the middle of it all. Bikaner Sweets Centre has been here for a while and we mostly spend our time making sure the glass cases are filled with whatever we made that morning. It smells like sugar and milk most of the time which is something you get used to after a few hours. The morning starts with the guys in the back getting the dough ready and the milk boiling for the various sweets. When the festival season comes it gets really crazy and we hardly have time to sit down but on regular days it is a bit more relaxed. People come in for a quick snack or to take a box of sweets home for their families and we see a lot of the same neighbors every day. The floor gets sticky sometimes and we are always wiping things down to keep it decent for the next person walking through the door. Being at L16 is good because it’s a spot people know and can find easily when they are walking around the block. We don’t have fancy decorations or anything like that because we just focus on the food and getting things done. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we do here in GK and we hope to keep it going for a long time as long as we can stay open and keep the counters clean.
