Acumen Export

Our little spot is up on the first floor of Krishna Market, Shop Number 22. If you are walking through the C block, you might miss the stairs at first because the market is always so crowded with people and goods moving around. We have been running Acumen Export from here for a while. It is a small office, mostly filled with samples and packing boxes ready to go out. Exporting isn't as glamorous as it sounds in the movies. It is mostly a lot of checking lists, weighing things, and making sure the labels don't peel off before they reach the port. We deal with all sorts of items depending on what the order is that week. Krishna Market has a certain energy that keeps you moving, even when the heat is bad in the afternoon. We don't really do the whole corporate branding thing. We just have our space, our regular suppliers, and our shipping contacts. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there talking until it comes back. It's a local way of doing business where you know the guy in the next shop and share a midday meal occasionally. We try to stay organized, but with so many packages coming in and out, the floor is usually covered in tape and bubble wrap by five o'clock. It's honest work and it keeps us busy through the seasons. We just focus on getting the crates out the door.
