Out here in Washim, specifically in Kawatha Khurdkhurd near Risod, we decided to get together as Vidarbha Kanya Farmer Producer Company Limited. It's mostly just local folks from the area who know the soil. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices. Our office is right here in the village. We started this because doing things alone as a single farmer is getting harder every year. The costs of seeds and everything else keep going up, and the prices we get for our crops don't always cover it. So, a group of us from around Kawatha and Risod sat down and figured we should pool our resources. We deal with whatever the local season brings, mostly the usual crops you see in this part of Maharashtra. Some days are long, especially when the weather isn't helping, but we keep at it. It’s not just about work; it’s about making sure our families have a bit more security. We spend a lot of time talking to the other growers, trying to figure out the best way to move our produce without losing too much to the middle people. It’s a learning process for all of us. We aren't experts in business, but we know farming. If you come by the post office area in Kawatha Khurd, you’ll probably see some of us hanging around or working on the ledgers. It's basic, it’s honest work, and we are just trying to make it through the year.
