Jay Anant Farmer Producer Companylimited is based in a small village called Navali in Risod. There really isn’t much here except for the farms and a few scattered houses. We started this company because we were tired of being at the mercy of the big buyers who come through the area. Now that we are a group, we have a bit more of a voice. Navali is a very quiet place where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We don’t have a fancy office building with glass windows. We just meet at my place or someone else’s house to talk about the upcoming harvest. Most of us have been farming this land for generations now. We know every corner of these fields. The work is hard and the pay isn’t always what we hope for, but it’s the life we have. We grow a little bit of everything, like soybean and cotton, depending on what seems right for the year. We don’t have a secretary or any marketing experts. We just have a few ledgers and a lot of determination to keep going. Sometimes the rain fails us, and those are the bad months for everyone in the village. But we stick together through it. That is the whole point of having this producer company. It’s a way for us to stay afloat and maybe make things a little easier for the next generation. We don’t make big promises. We just show up every single day and do the chores.
