Solanke Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Nagthana in the Washim district. We aren't a big outfit with a glass building. We are based right here in the village where we live and work. A group of us got together because we saw that small farmers often get the short end of the stick when it comes to buying supplies or selling what we grow. By forming this company in Nagthana, we give ourselves a bit more room to breathe. Washim is where our families have been for a long time, so we know the land well. Our daily routine is mostly about checking on the crops and making sure the paperwork is in order so we can get our produce to the right places. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches. We just talk like we always have, over a cup of tea in the village. Sometimes we make mistakes with the filing, or the weather ruins a plan, but we just keep going. It’s a practical way to manage the farm life. We help each other with seeds and sharing what we know about the pests or the soil. It is just a bunch of neighbors in Washim trying to make the farming business a little bit more manageable for everyone involved in our little group. It's not glamorous, but it is how we get by.
