We are over at Haraltalika, which is in the Risod area of Washim. Pragatisheel Shetkari Marketing & Producer Company Limited is based at the Mahatma Phule Mb location. It’s a very local thing. Most of us are farmers who grew up around here. We decided to start this company because we were tired of how things were being handled by outsiders. We don't have a big fancy office. We mostly meet at the post office or in someone’s front yard. It’s very dusty in Washim during the dry season. We spend our time talking about how to market our crops better. We aren't marketing experts with degrees. We just know what we grow and what it should be worth. We use our own tractors and trucks to move things when we can. Sometimes we sit around for hours just trying to figure out the government forms. It’s a headache, but we do it together. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want to make sure the people in Haraltalika get a fair shake. We drink a lot of water and try to stay out of the midday sun. Our hands are rough and we don't care about looking polished. We just care about the harvest and making sure everyone gets their share of the money. It’s a basic life, and we are just trying to make it a bit better for ourselves and our neighbors.
