Maulitirth Mahila Farmer Producercompany Limited

Our group is Maulitirth Mahila Farmer Producercompany Limited, and you can find us in Risod, over in the Washim district. We operate out of P. S. Jadhao’s place in Sadashiv Nagar. It is a gathering of local women who have been farming these lands for as long as we can remember. In Risod, we deal with the usual problems of the season, like when the monsoon is too heavy or when it does not rain at all for weeks. We decided to come together because being a lone woman farmer is tough when you have to deal with the markets and the banks. We meet up in the afternoons after the chores are done to plan our next steps. We talk about seeds, fertilizers, and how to get our stuff to the city. There is no big office or polished floors here; we mostly sit together and figure things out over tea. It is about making sure our hard work actually pays off for our families. We do everything ourselves, from the heavy lifting in the fields to the bookkeeping at Jadhao’s house. It isn't always perfect, and we make mistakes sometimes, but we are learning as we go. We are not some big corporation from the city, just a group of neighbors in Washim trying to make our farming life a little more stable and a little less of a gamble every year. We just want to do right by our land.
