Out here in Yeota, things move a bit slow and that is just how we like it. We are mostly just a group of local folks from around the Akola area who decided to get together under the name Indirabai Krushisamruddhi. Tulshiram Madhao Dhaleyevata’s place is where we handle most of the paperwork and meetings, though we spend way more time out in the dirt than in that office. It started because farming on your own is getting harder every year with the prices and the weather never doing what it should. We figure if we pool our stuff and talk to each other more, maybe we can get a better handle on things. It is not some big fancy operation. We grow what grows well in this part of Maharashtra and try to make sure everyone gets a fair shake. Sometimes the meetings take too long and we argue about small things, but that is just how it goes when everyone has their own way of doing things. We just want to keep our land going for the next generation. If you come by the address in Yevata, you might find one of us there, or maybe just a locked door if it is harvest time.
