Heerkani-Umed Farmer Producer Company Limited is located at Koyali, which is in the Risod taluka. Gajanan Pundlik Jadhav is the main contact person for our group. We are out in the 444506 area, and it’s a typical rural spot where everyone is connected to the land in one way or another. The name Heerkani-Umed means something to us, but really we are just a practical group of neighbors. We saw that things were getting harder for individual farmers to stay afloat, so we decided to pool our resources. We deal with the seeds, the fertilizer, and the selling part of the job. It’s a lot for a few people to handle, but we do it because it’s necessary. Risod has its own climate, and we have to adapt to it every year. Some years are great and others are a total wash, but that's what we signed up for. Our office at Gajanan’s place is where we do the math and keep our receipts. It’s not a fancy setup, just a desk and some chairs and a lot of talk about the local market. We don't have a big marketing budget or any of that. We just rely on each other to get the work done.
