Kavi Bharathi English High School

If you head down to No 40 on the Pcsm Main Road in Katterikuppam, you will find Kavi Bharathi English High School. We are out in the Pondicherry area, but not the part with the French buildings and tourists. This is a more local, everyday part of town. The school sits right on the main road, so we hear the buses and lorries passing by all day long. It can be quite noisy, but you get used to it after a week or two. Most of the children here live nearby and their parents bring them on the back of their scooters before heading to work. We have a simple setup with a few blocks of classrooms and a small office where we handle the fees and the paperwork. The weather in Pondy is usually very hot and humid, so the ceiling fans are always humming in the background. We don't have fancy air conditioning or anything like that. It’s a basic English medium school where we focus on getting through the books. The teachers are mostly local women who have been with us for years. We know which kids are brothers and sisters and which ones are likely to cause a bit of trouble in the playground. It’s just a regular school day for us, year after year, teaching the kids from this neighborhood as best as we can.
