Our office is at No-7 in Torvi, which is in the Bijapur district. Bijapur is a tough place for farming because it gets so hot and dry most of the year. We are used to the sun beating down on us while we work the black soil. We named ourselves after Danamma Devi because we have a lot of respect for our roots and our local traditions. Life in Torvi is mostly about the fields. We grow grapes and sometimes grains if the water levels in the wells are okay. This company was formed because we were getting tired of middlemen taking all the profit from our hard work. Now we sit together in our small office on the Bijapur road and figure things out ourselves. It’s not a fancy building, and we don't have air conditioning. We just have some ceiling fans and a lot of registers. People stop by on their way to the city. We talk about the price of fertilizers and who has a tractor they can lend out for the weekend. It’s a very local thing. We don't care about looking like a big company. We just want to make sure the farmers in our part of Bijapur can keep their land and feed their families. It’s hard work, but we are used to it. Every season is a new struggle with the weather, but we do it together now instead of suffering alone.
