Sia The Designer Studio

We are based at Sia The Designer Studio on M.G. Road in Valsad. Being on the main road means there is always a lot of traffic and people passing by our door. The studio is where we do all the sketching and the actual tailoring work. It’s a bit of a messy place with threads on the floor and half-finished garments hanging from the racks. My work table is usually buried under pieces of chalk, measuring tapes, and scrap fabric. We spend a lot of time sitting at the sewing machines or talking to people about what they want made. Valsad is a small place, so we end up knowing most of the people who come in quite well. Sometimes they just drop by to say hello while they are out doing their shopping on M.G. Road. The light in the studio is good because of the big windows facing the street, but it also means it gets quite warm in the summer months. We have a small mirror in the corner for fittings, though the frame is a bit loose. It’s a practical space where we focus on getting the stitches right rather than making the place look like a fancy boutique. There’s always some music playing on an old radio in the background to keep things from being too quiet while we work on the latest orders.
