Textiles Coated International

You can find us over on OP Road. It’s a long stretch of road and we’ve been part of it for a while now at Textiles Coated International. We don’t have a big flashy sign, just the work we do every day. The building is pretty plain, painted a color that’s hard to describe now that it’s faded. Inside, it’s all about the materials. We do a lot of specialized stuff with coatings and fabrics that need a bit more attention than your average cotton. It’s more technical, I suppose, but we don’t talk about it in fancy terms. It’s just about making sure the layers are right. The machines make a steady hum that you get used to after ten minutes. We have a small team here. Most of us live nearby, so we walk or bike to the shop. OP Road gets busy during the morning rush, so we try to get in early to beat the heat and the noise. We keep a pot of coffee going in the back room, though it’s usually sat there too long. It’s a straightforward way of making a living. No one here wears a suit. We just wear what’s comfortable for moving heavy rolls and working the machines. It’s honest work on a busy road. We don't have any big corporate meetings, just a quick chat over the machines to see what needs doing next.
