Swaroop Designs Sadar

You can find our little workshop over at 665 Balwant Niwas on B P C Road. It’s an older building, and we’ve been here in Sadar for quite some time now. The space inside is usually a bit of a mess because we have so many rolls of fabric and paper patterns laying around on the tables. It gets a bit dusty, but that is just the way it goes when you are working with cloth all day long. The street outside is always noisy with cars and people shouting, but once you step inside, it’s mostly just the sound of the sewing machines. We usually keep the main door propped open with a brick if the weather isn't too hot. My father started this place years ago, and we just kept it going. We don't have bright lights or fancy displays like the shops in the big malls. It’s more of a practical space where we actually get the work done. We spend the morning hours cutting and the afternoons are for stitching. Sometimes we run out of a certain color of thread and have to send the boy down the road to get more. The floorboards creak when you walk to the back. We try to keep things organized, but the piles of cloth often get too high to manage. People just hear about us from their friends.
