Sia Sarees

Sia Sarees is located in the Alkapuri area. It’s a decent neighborhood and things are generally a bit more organized here than in the old city markets. Our shop is a straightforward space where we keep a variety of sarees on display. We don't have any of those big fancy window displays you see at the malls. Usually, there’s just a few mannequins and the rest of the stock is kept in cupboards or stacked on the counters. The day usually moves at a slow pace unless it’s the wedding season. We spend a lot of time showing different fabrics to whoever walks in. Sometimes people stay for an hour just looking at two different shades of red. We have a small bench for people to sit on while they look through the collections. The floor is covered in a simple rug that’s seen better days. When it’s quiet, we mostly just sit and talk or organize the shelves again. The street outside has a lot of trees, which is nice because it stays a bit cooler. We don’t do much in the way of loud promotions. Most of our visitors are people who live nearby or heard about us from a neighbor. It’s a small, quiet operation and that’s how we like to keep it. We just open up in the morning, do our work, and close up when the sun goes down without any big fuss.
