Sanskar Sarees

If you come down Amba Mata’s Lane, you’ll see us at Darshak Hall. We are right opposite Thakur Sarees in the Haji Ali Asoj area. It’s a bit of a landmark spot because of the temple nearby. Sanskar Sarees isn’t a giant store; it’s more of a local place where we keep things simple. The lane can get pretty narrow and crowded, especially during festivals when everyone is heading to the temple. Our shop is usually full of sarees in different colors and materials. We spend our days unfolding and folding fabric, which is a never-ending job. The floor is mostly covered in rugs so people can sit and look at the items, which is the old-fashioned way of doing things. We don't have a computer system for everything; a lot of our notes are still written by hand in big ledgers. It’s worked for us so far, so we don’t see much reason to change it. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat and have a glass of water. It’s that kind of atmosphere. We try to be fair and just get through the day without any major problems. The lighting isn't great in the back of the hall, but we know where everything is kept. It’s just us, some sarees, and the daily life of the lane.
