My Restaurant

My Restaurant is on the ground floor of the Solitare Complex. We are right on Old Padra Road at the Manisha Cross Road in Vadodara. It’s a very busy part of town, so there’s always the sound of horns and engines coming in from the street. The name we picked isn't very creative, but it tells you exactly what this place is. It is just a restaurant where we serve food to whoever walks in through the glass doors. The interior is pretty simple with some plain tiled floors and wooden chairs. We don't have any big art on the walls or fancy lighting fixtures. We just have some bright bulbs so people can see what they are eating. Our staff is mostly just local guys who live nearby and wanted a job. We spend a lot of time refilling water glasses and clearing off the crumbs from the tables. The kitchen is tucked away in the back and it gets quite cramped when we have a few people working in there at once. We don't talk much about our goals or anything like that. We just focus on making sure the stove is hot and the dishes are clean. Every evening, we watch the traffic pile up at the cross road while we wait for the dinner rush. It’s a pretty basic way to make a living, but it keeps us busy and we know most of the regulars.
