Shivanand Glass Engineering

You can find us over at Plot No. C/1/135 in the GIDC Industrial Estate. We’ve been doing glass engineering here for a long time, and the shop is filled with all kinds of specialized tools. Glass is a tricky thing to work with, so we have to be careful every single day. One wrong move and you’ve got a mess on your hands, not to mention the risk of cuts. We all have a few scars from the early days, but that is just part of learning the trade. The estate is always buzzing with activity, and our plot is right in the middle of it all. We don't have much of a front office, just a small corner with a filing cabinet and a telephone that rings more than we’d like. Most of our time is spent out on the floor where the real work happens. It gets quite loud with the cutting and grinding machines running, so we usually have to shout to be heard over the noise. We’re just a group of people who know how to handle glass and make it do what it needs to do. It’s not an easy job, and the hours can be long when a big project is due. But we enjoy the process of taking a raw piece and turning it into something useful for our customers. The floor is usually covered in fine glass dust, so we have to keep our boots on at all times.
