Ajay Engineering

Our workshop is located at 903-7 on the Gidc Road in Makarpura. Ahmedabad is a city that never really stops, and this industrial area is no different. Ajay Engineering is a small operation, mostly focused on metal fabrication and fixing up old machinery. The shop floor is always a bit of a mess with oil spots and iron filings, but we know where everything is. I’ve been working in this field since I was a teenager, so the smell of grease and the sound of grinders is just normal to me now. We have some old equipment that still runs better than the new stuff we bought last year. My nephew helps me with the heavy lifting and the welding. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most people find us because they know someone we've worked for before. It’s a straightforward life. We show up early, drink some tea, and start on the pile of orders. Sometimes the rain gets heavy and the road outside floods a bit, but we just keep working inside. We don’t have a formal meeting room, so if you come by, we’ll probably just talk standing up by the workbench. It’s not a polished business by any means. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay on top of the schedule. It's a lot of manual labor, but it's what we know how to do.
