Narendra Engineering Works

Over at 530 GIDC Manjusar, the sound of metal hitting metal is what we hear all day long. Narendra Engineering Works isn't a silent place. It’s full of the smell of cutting oil and the hum of the lathes. We've been in the Savli area for a while, and we've seen the estate grow up around us. It’s hard work, and your hands are never really clean, no matter how much soap you use at the end of the shift. We mostly deal with small parts and repairs that keep other businesses running. Sometimes a guy comes in with a broken piece of machinery and needs it fixed by tomorrow, so we stay late to get it done. We don’t have a fancy reception area or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find us near the back machines. The floor is concrete and can be hard on your feet after eight or nine hours. We drink a lot of tea to keep going, especially in the afternoons when the heat in the shed gets heavy. It’s just how we live. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just trying to make sure the tolerances are right and the welds are solid. Vadodara has a lot of shops like ours, but we take a bit of pride in just showing up and doing the job properly. The commute to Manjusar can be a bit of a trek, but once we're here, we just get to it and keep the machines running.
