Jashan E Mehfil Restaurants

We are tucked away behind the Vadodara Center in Alkapuri, specifically at 6, Nutan Bharat Society. Jashan E Mehfil is a place that feels like a bit of a hideaway from the main road. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, which is nice for us. I remember when we first opened, we were worried no one would find us back here, but word gets around. The restaurant isn't very big, so on Friday nights it can get pretty cramped with people waiting for a table. I usually have to tell the kids to stop running around between the chairs. Our kitchen staff has been with us since the start, and they are like family, even when we argue about who left the freezer open. We serve the kind of food we eat at home. There aren't any fancy decorations, just some pictures on the walls and plain tablecloths. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass windows because the fingerprints from the kids always show up. Running a restaurant in the 390007 area means you see a lot of the same faces every week. It’s a lot of standing and a lot of heat from the stoves, but it’s a good way to spend the day. We don’t have a big corporate plan, we just open the doors and see who comes in. It’s just how we do things here in Vadodara.
