J Khushaldas & Co

You’ll find J Khushaldas & Co over on 2nd Victoria X Road in Vadodara. It’s a street with a lot of history. We’ve been part of it for a long time. The shop has that old-fashioned smell of paper and wood. We deal with various items, mostly things that local businesses and families have needed for generations. Our counters are made of heavy wood and they've been worn smooth over the years. We still use paper ledgers for a lot of our tracking because that’s how we learned to do it. It’s a bit slower than using a computer, but it feels more reliable to us. We don't have a big marketing department or a polished brand image. We are just a local company doing our thing day after day. The windows are large but they get a bit grimy from the street dust. We wash them when we can, but the traffic never stops. Customers come in and we usually know their names or at least their faces. There is a small radio in the corner that plays the news or some old songs while we work. It’s a comfortable place to be. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just focus on the orders we have and the people in front of us. It’s been working for us for a long time now. Even when the city changes around us, we stay pretty much the same.
