Bal Bhavan Society

We’re located right behind Sayaji Garden in the Karelibaug area. It’s a nice, green part of town and we enjoy being here. Our society has been around for quite a while, focusing on activities for the local kids and the community around us. The building is simple and we try to keep it welcoming for everyone who comes by. We don’t have a big budget for fancy renovations, so things look a bit lived-in and comfortable. Usually, you’ll find some activity going on in the afternoons after school lets out. We aren't a corporate entity with a board of directors in expensive suits. It’s mostly just staff and volunteers from around Karelibaug who want to keep things running for the next generation. People know us because we’ve been here for so long. We don't put out ads or try to sell anything to anyone. It’s just a place for children to learn some skills or just play in a safe spot. Being near the garden means it’s a quiet spot, away from the main traffic of the city. We have various rooms for different classes or hobby groups. It’s a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but it works for the families who live around here. We don’t use complicated language or have a formal mission statement posted on every wall. We just open up every day and do what needs to be done. It’s a regular part of the neighborhood where folks just drop by.
