Hotel Palak Palace

Being right at the Eklinghpura Choraha in Hiran Magri means there is always noise from the traffic. We are located on Jhamer Kotra Road in Sector-6, which stays pretty busy with trucks and cars going past at all hours. Our days are mostly spent checking people in and making sure the rooms are somewhat tidy for the next person who shows up. It is a lot of running around, really. One minute we are fixing a leaky tap and the next we are trying to figure out why the television in room four isn't working again. We have been here for some time now. Most of the people who stay are just passing through for work or need a place to sleep after a long drive. It isn't like those big fancy hotels you see in magazines. We just have the basics. I usually spend my afternoons sitting behind the small desk in the lobby, waiting for the phone to ring or for someone to walk through the door. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the summer, so we keep the curtains pulled. Sometimes the kitchen gets backed up when too many people want tea at once. We just do what we can to keep things moving. It's a simple life here in Sector-6, mostly just making sure the beds are made and the floors are swept before the evening rush starts.
