Udaipur is a beautiful place, but for those of us working here, it is mostly about the daily chores and making sure everything stays in its right place. It is a big property, so there is always something that needs fixing or a patch of grass that needs watering. We spend a lot of time walking from one side to the other. It is not always as glamorous as it looks from the outside; there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into keeping a place like this going. The staff here are mostly local people from around Udaipur or the nearby villages. We have our own way of doing things that might seem a bit slow to outsiders, but it works for us. We don't really go for the high-pressure corporate vibe. Instead, we just try to be helpful and keep the peace. The view of the water is nice, though we often forget to look at it because we are staring at a clipboard or a computer screen. It is a solid place to work, and we have been at Hari Dasji Ki Magri long enough that the stones feel familiar to us now. It is home.
