Annpurna Hotel

Our place is on NH 8 in Udaipur. It’s a hotel but it’s more of a stop for people driving through on the highway. Udaipur is a beautiful city but being out here on the main road is different from being in the tourist areas. We see a lot of people passing through to other towns or states. The building has been here for years now. It’s got some wear and tear on the walls but it stays busy. We have rooms if people need to rest for a night. They aren't five-star rooms or anything like that. Just a bed and a fan and a bathroom usually. Most folks stop for a meal while their vehicle is parked outside. We keep the tea hot all day long in a big pot. Sometimes the highway gets noisy with the heavy trucks but you get used to the sound after a while. I spend a lot of time sitting by the counter watching the road. My staff knows the regulars who drive this route every week. We don't really do anything fancy for the holidays, just keep the kitchen running like normal. Sometimes the light goes out and we have to fix the fuse box ourselves. It’s just how things are around here. We try to keep the place swept. The furniture is made of old wood. If you're coming from the main city, it takes a bit of a drive to reach us.
