Hotel Neelam Palace

You can find us at 3 and 4 Kalaji Goraji on RMV Road. This part of Udaipur is interesting because of the old buildings and the narrow streets that wind around. We called it a palace, but it’s really just a decent-sized building that we’ve tried to make comfortable. The road out front stays pretty busy with scooters and rickshaws going towards the lake area. We have a small entrance where you walk in and see the reception desk right away. I’ve lived in this city all my life, so I know the shortcuts and the best places to get things. The rooms have some traditional touches, like the patterns on the tiles, but mostly it’s just practical furniture. We don’t have a big dining hall, but there are plenty of spots nearby to eat. Usually, the morning starts around six when the street cleaners are out. I keep a pot of coffee going for the early birds. Some of the windows look out over the street, so you can watch the world go by. It’s not the quietest place because of the city life right outside, but it’s convenient. We have a few staff members who help with the cleaning and making the beds. We just take it one day at a time, making sure things are clean and guests have their keys on time. It's a simple, honest way to run a business.
