Chowpatty Restaurant

Our restaurant is over at Shop Number-35 on City Station Road in Udaipur. It’s a pretty busy street because of the train station being so close. We get a lot of travelers who have just hopped off a train and are looking for something to eat before they head to their hotels. We are right near Hotel Gorghan Thal, which is a big place that most people know. I’ve been working here for a few years now. The kitchen gets really hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months in Rajasthan. We don’t have any of those fancy menus with words you can’t pronounce. It’s just straightforward food that people like. Sometimes the delivery bikes make a lot of noise outside our door, but you get used to it. The shop isn't huge, but we make use of the space we have. I like talking to the customers who come from different parts of the country. They tell us about their travels while they sit and eat. We just keep the tables wiped and the food coming out. It’s not a corporate chain or anything like that. Just a local Udaipur eatery trying to do things right every day. Most days are the same, just busy and a bit loud. We close up late at night after the last train crowd thins out. That's how it goes here. It’s a lot of work but it keeps us busy.
