China Town The Real Taste is up on the 2nd floor of Mavliwala Plaza. We are located in Ashok Nagar, right on the main road, just above the Red Chief Showroom. Being near the Lake City Mall means there is always a lot of foot traffic, but since we are on the second floor, it’s a little quieter up here. We’ve got a view of the street from the windows, which is nice when things get busy outside. The plaza has a lot of shops, so we see people coming in after they’ve done their shopping. We aren't a massive place, just a few of us running the show. We focus on getting the food right and making sure the kitchen is clean. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so people have to take the stairs, but they still come up. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone telling us how to look corporate. We just use what we have and keep the place running. It’s a lot of manual work, chopping, stirring, and cleaning up every night. Udaipur is a beautiful city, and being in Ashok Nagar keeps us right in the middle of the action. We just want to provide a simple place where the food is the main thing. We keep the music low and the burners high, just trying to make it through each day as best as we can.
