S.V.S. Natarajan & Son

This business has been in our family for a long time, and we’ve always been at 71/1 on Toovipuram Main Road. S.V.S. Natarajan & Son is a name that most people in this area recognize because we’ve stayed in the same spot for so many years. The building is old and the paint is peeling a bit near the door, but it’s a solid place. We can hear the traffic on the main road all day long, and the dust from the street always finds its way inside. We spend a lot of time just sitting at the front counter talking to people who stop by. Many of our customers have been coming to us since my father was running things, so it feels more like a community than a business sometimes. The back room is where we keep all the stock, and it’s always a bit of a scramble to find things when we get busy. We don’t bother with any big advertisements or anything like that. People just know where we are if they need us. Sometimes the phone rings all day, and other times we just sit and watch the cars go by. We try to keep things simple and honest. My son helps out now, and we just manage the daily work as it comes. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know and what we do.
