Like other farmer groups, we started this to help the people growing crops around here. Uthukuli is known for certain things, and we wanted to make sure the local farmers get their fair share of the market. The office is a modest building in PVR Palayam. You might see tractors or old trucks parked nearby depending on what day you visit. We spend our time talking to the members about what they need for the next planting season. It isn't a polished corporate environment. There is usually some dust from the road and plenty of tea being shared while we talk. We have to manage the collective harvest and find buyers who pay a fair price. It’s a lot of responsibility for a local group like ours. We don't have a big budget for fancy things, so we put everything we have back into the business. The staff are just folks from the village who know how to handle the books. Sometimes the weather ruins a crop and we have to sit down and figure out what to do next. It’s a lot of practical problem-solving. We don't make big promises, we just try to get the work done. It’s about the community here in Rettaikinaru and keeping the farms going.
