Ruchi Emu Farms

We are located in Sathya Colony, right on First Street near the Mannarai Post Office. Ruchi Emu Farms isn't your typical backyard business. We decided to get into emu farming a while back because it seemed like a good use of the land we had. It’s been a learning curve, that's for sure. These birds have their own personalities and they can be quite a handful in the mornings. Most of our day is spent outside in the pens, checking the water and making sure the fences are secure. It’s physical work, and you definitely get your hands dirty. We aren't wearing suits or sitting in air-conditioned offices. Usually, we are out there in the sun or dealing with the mud when the rain comes down in Mannarai. We sell things like emu eggs and oil, and sometimes people come by just to see the birds because they are so unusual for this area. We don't have a big marketing department or a mission statement pinned to the wall. We just focus on keeping the animals healthy and the farm running. It’s a steady routine of feeding, cleaning, and maintenance. Sometimes a bird gets out and we have to spend the afternoon chasing it down, which the neighbors find pretty funny. It’s a simple life, and we like the independence that comes with running our own farm.
