About Coir Pith India – Agriculture & Farming in Tiruppur
Our place is at 11 A Muthusamy Thottam, which is out near the Thennampalayam Post. If you know the area, it is mostly quiet until the tractors start moving in the morning. We spend our time dealing with coir pith, which is a bit of a messy business if we are being honest. The dust gets everywhere, on our clothes and in the corners of the office, but that is just how it goes when you work with coconut materials. The yard is where most of the activity happens. We have to keep a close eye on the weather because if it rains unexpectedly, it messes with the drying process and we have to scramble to cover everything up. It is a small team here, just a few of us who have lived in this part of the country for most of our lives. We don't have a big corporate setup or anything. The desk in the front is usually piled with papers and some samples we are checking. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just take a break and sit under the shade for a bit until it comes back. It is a simple way of working, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We just try to get the loads ready for the trucks that come by in the evening. There is always something that needs to be moved or bagged up before the sun goes down.
