We are over here at 338/3 Bembali Road. It’s a group of us who work the land around here. Mostly we focus on what grows best in this soil. It’s hard work, usually starting before the sun is even up, but that’s just how life goes in this part of the country. Prema Gopalan Producer Company Limited isn't some big office in a city. It is just us farmers trying to figure out a better way to get our crops sold without losing money to everyone else. We spend a lot of time talking about seeds and the weather. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, and other times there is too much of it. We share tools and help each other out when someone’s tractor breaks down or when the harvest is too big for one family to handle. It's not fancy. Our office is just a place to meet and keep the paperwork straight. People stop by to chat about the market prices or just to see how the season is looking. We’ve lived here a long time and know the dirt under our fingernails. Doing this as a company helps us stay organized, which is important when you're trying to deal with the buyers. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields pays off enough to keep going next year. That's the main thing really. Just keeping the farms running.
