Moovar Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are set up on Gobi Road in Kunnathur, which is a busy spot. Moovar Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically a group of us who work the land in Tiruppur and Erode. Our address at 441/739B is where we meet to talk about seeds and what the weather is doing. It’s a plain building with just enough room for our files and a few chairs. Most of the people you see here are farmers themselves. We decided to come together because it made more sense for selling our crops. We don’t have an expensive office with air conditioning that works all the time. It’s mostly just us sitting around a table with a fan blowing. Some days the dust from the road comes right in, but that’s fine. We spend our time checking on harvests and making sure everyone has what they need for the next season. Being in Erode means the heat can be tough, but we’re used to it. We don't have a mission statement on the wall or anything like that. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields pays off. It’s a lot of talk about water and market rates. We’ve known each other for years, so the meetings are pretty informal. It’s just a bunch of neighbors trying to keep the farming life going. We keep a large jar of water by the door because it gets so dry during the summer months.
