Shalom Food Products

We are tucked away at number 13 in Vikramasingapuram, which is part of Ambasamudram. It’s a small town and everyone kind of knows each other's business. Shalom Food Products started out small and stayed that way on purpose. We deal with various food items, mostly things that locals use in their daily cooking. The building we are in is old, but it stays cool enough in the afternoons. We spend a lot of time sorting through ingredients by hand. It’s tedious work and your back starts to ache after a few hours, but it’s the only way to be sure things are right. My brother and a couple of neighbors help out when we have a big order to fill. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. Just a desk in the corner with a lot of papers on it. Sometimes the rain in Ambasamudram gets so heavy we have to stop work to make sure no water is leaking through the roof. We just do our best to stay organized and keep the shelves stocked. It isn't a glamorous life, but we like being our own bosses. People come by the shop and talk for a bit before buying what they need. It’s a slow pace compared to the city, and we are perfectly fine with that.
