Hindu High School

Hindu High School is out in Pathai, on Keela Manjuvilai Road in Tirunelveli. This is a place with a lot of history, and the school has been part of it for a long time. The building has those very high ceilings and thick walls that you don't see in modern constructions anymore. It helps a bit with the heat, though Tirunelveli is always quite hot. We have a large open area in the middle where the students gather every morning. The ground is just hard-packed earth, and it gets very dry in the summer months. Most of the kids who come here are from local families who have lived in Pathai for generations. We don't have a lot of money for decorations or new paint, so things look a bit worn down in places. The teachers are mostly local people who have been teaching here for years. We follow the standard curriculum and focus on the basics of reading, math, and science. In the afternoons, you can see the students walking home along the dusty road. We have a few old trees on the property that provide some nice shade during the lunch break. It is a very quiet life here, far away from the rush of the big cities. We just keep the doors open and do what we can to teach the students what they need to know for their future. Every year we see a new batch of faces and say goodbye to the old ones.
