Tisayanvillai is a quiet corner compared to the big cities, and our school on Navalady Road reflects that. We are located at No:19, and if you live in Tirunelveli, you know the heat can be something else entirely. Most of us here grew up in this region, so we’re used to the dry air and the dusty roads. At Daniel Thomas Matriculation School, we don’t have any grand pretenses. We open the doors early in the morning, sweep the porches, and wait for the kids to arrive on their cycles or with their parents. There’s a certain pace of life here that we really like. It’s slower but steady. We spend our days in the classrooms, and during the lunch break, everyone sits together under whatever shade they can find. The building is simple and sturdy. We handle all the maintenance ourselves mostly, from fixing the furniture to keeping the small garden patches alive. Sometimes the wind picks up and blows red sand everywhere, and we just clean it up and keep going. It’s a local place for local people. We know the shopkeepers on Navalady Road and they know us. There’s no big corporate office telling us what to do; we just look at what the kids need and try to provide that as best as we can with what we have. It isn't always perfect, but we put in the work and the days pass by pleasantly enough.
