Sriram Matric Hr Sec School

Sriram Matric Hr Sec School is out in Boomisamuthiram, near Kambainallur. It’s a bit of a trek if you’re coming from the main town, but it’s a nice area once you get here. The school is a collection of buildings that have been added to over time. It’s got that feel of a place that has grown slowly. The classrooms are basic, with rows of desks and fans that hum all day long to keep the heat away. We have a big open space where the students gather for the morning assembly. You can hear the principal talking over the microphone every day at eight. It’s a familiar sound for the neighbors. The trees provide some shade, but it still gets quite hot in the afternoons. We have a small canteen where kids can get snacks, though most bring their lunch from home in those metal tins. The walk from the main gate to the office is lined with some potted plants that we try to keep alive. It’s a lot of work running a school of this size in a place like Kambainallur. We just take it one day at a time. The older students are usually busy with their exams, while the younger ones are always running around during the breaks. It’s a lively place, but we try to keep a bit of order. It feels like home to most of us who work here every day.
