Carmels Matriculation School

Woriyur is a busy part of Trichy, and Carmels is right in the middle of it at Carmel Garden. It’s been here for quite some time now. You can hear the city noise from the classrooms. We have a lot of students packed into the building. The playground gets very dusty in the summer months. We spend a lot of time telling kids to tuck in their shirts or stop running in the hallways. It’s a matriculation school, so it’s all about the books and the exams. The teachers’ room is always a bit of a mess with notebooks piled high on every table. We have a small canteen that smells like fried snacks in the afternoon. Parents are always waiting outside the gates on their scooters. We don't have any big marketing slogans. We just open the doors in the morning and close them in the evening. Some of the paint is peeling in the corners, but we fix things when we can. It’s a practical place. The kids learn their lessons and we make sure the schedule is followed. Trichy heat is no joke, so the fans are always on full blast. We just try to get through the day and hope the students learn something useful. It’s just a local school for the families around here. We watch them walk home through the busy streets every single afternoon.
