Sri Bhavaniyaman Fabrication Works

Our workshop is down at 172/134 Demollows Road in Pattalam. It’s a fabrication place, so you’ll usually hear the sound of welding or grinding if you walk past during the day. We do a lot of iron work, like gates, window grills, and small metal repairs for houses in the neighborhood. The shop is a bit dark and smells like burnt metal and paint, but that’s just part of the job we do. We’ve been in Pattalam for quite a while now. It’s a busy neighborhood with lots of traffic and people walking by. Most of the day we’re bent over a workbench or out at a site fitting something we made. We don't have much of a front office, just the space where we work and store our tools. It gets pretty hot in the summer with the torches going and the metal heating up. We keep a lot of scrap metal around in the corners because you never know when a small piece might come in handy for a quick fix. People bring us sketches on scraps of paper or just explain what they want, and we try to make it work. It’s not always perfect, but it’s solid work that lasts a long time. Sometimes the deliveries of steel take longer than we want, so we have to juggle the jobs we have. We’re just a small crew of workers. We know most of the other shop owners on Demollows Road and say hello every morning.
