Naina Steels

You can find Naina Steels at 1A on Kannara Street. We are right opposite the Marriamman Temple. It’s a nice spot because the temple is a big part of the community here. On festival days, the street gets very crowded and we usually have to slow down our work. Our shop at 1A is where we keep our steel stock. It’s an old building on a narrow street, so things can get a bit tight. We spend a lot of time moving bundles of steel by hand or with small carts. You can hear the temple bells throughout the day while we are working. It’s a sound we’ve gotten used to. We don't have a fancy showroom. Everything is just laid out so we can find it easily. We aren't big on corporate talk or fancy labels. We just know our steel and where everything is kept. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the sign outside is a bit faded, but that doesn't stop us from doing what we do. People come to us because they know we are right there across from the temple. We have a small table where we do the billing and talk to whoever walks in. It’s a very local way of doing things. We’ve been on Kannara Street for a long time and we feel like part of the bricks and mortar here. It’s just how we run things in this neighborhood.
