I'm sitting here at our spot in Nallarikkai, just outside Kunnam. It is a bit out of the way, but that is where the work happens. Most days start early because the trucks coming into Perambalur district get backed up if we don't move fast. The steel side of things is heavy work, and the power plant side keeps everyone on their toes. It gets really dusty around here when the wind picks up across the yard. We have a lot of people from the local villages working the shifts. It is not a fancy place at all. You will see guys in boots and old shirts just trying to get the day's load finished. Sometimes the machinery acts up and we have to spend half the afternoon getting a mechanic out here. We handle a lot of the logistical stuff right from this office. There is a small tea stall just down the road where most of us head when the heat gets too much. The address says Perambalur, and we have been in this patch for a while now. It is just basic industrial work, nothing like what you see in the movies. We just make sure the steel goes where it needs to and the power stays steady. It is a long day usually, but that is how it goes when you are dealing with this kind of heavy metal and electricity in this part of the country. We just keep our heads down and get the job done before heading home.
