Customer Service Assisstant

I work out of the Karuppam Veettil House in Koorkenchery, right here in the Thrissur district. My name is Haris and I spend most of my day as an assistant for people who have questions or need help with their services. It’s a home-based setup, which means the sounds of the neighborhood are always in the background, like the local birds or the rain on the roof during the monsoon. I spend a lot of hours on the computer and answering calls that come in. Some days the phone doesn’t stop ringing and other days it’s very quiet and I just catch up on some filing or cleaning the desk. It’s a practical way to work and it keeps me close to my family here in Kerala. People call for all sorts of reasons, sometimes they are frustrated and sometimes they just need a bit of guidance on what to do next. I don't use a script or anything, I just talk to them like a normal person and try to figure out what went wrong. The office is just a small corner of the house with a decent internet connection. It can be a bit tiring sitting in one spot for so long, but it’s good work. I’ve been doing this for a while now and I’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the calls and the common problems people face every day. It's just about being patient and getting through the list.
